Lake Country Satellite Demonstrates Technology Available For Local Emergencies
David R Varner, President of Lake Country Satellite, LLC was invited to the regional VOAD (Voluntary Organizations Active In Disaster) meeting by Cat Graham from Humanity Road. Varner demonstrated how their EXEDE2 communications trailer and mobile office can play a vital role in a disaster situation. We have the capability to provide standalone operations non-dependent of any local system. With satellite communications we can provide everything, TV, Internet, and Phone. Our mobile unit is equipped with two separate cloud based phone services. Exede Voice and Ring Central. Other cloud based communication services such as Facebook, Google Voice, Skype, and the list goes on, can all be utilized over our Exede Satellite Internet, said Varner.
Exede Internet is our primary business. We have been providing customers all over this region with a great product using the Exede platform. Making this connection now at this time is the right thing to do. We are already a leader in our community in the technology field, so why not be the same leader in a disaster situation, Varner went on to say.
Their mobile office is ready with it’s own power source. There is a generator that provides power for a long duration, and a battery bank for shorter periods. Their goal is to install solar panels on the roof to provide continuous power in the future. There are 3 40″ LED displays that can be used as computer monitors or TV viewing through an off air antenna, DISH, DIRECTV, BlueRay, DVD or ROKU. This feed can also be fed out to a base camp.
There are two separate WiFi networks. One is an open WiFi for the general public, and the other is secured for operational. With the technology they have been provided through ITDRC (Information Technology Disaster Resource Center), they can add even more secure WiFi channels as needed.
Lake Country Satellite IS ready should a disaster strike.
